For so long I’ve been willing to write about this place in Stockholm. It’s a pub called Akkurat.

Hidden away a bit, located on Hornsgatan on the island of Södermalm (close to the Hilton hotel).

What’s so special about this pub? The knowledge. The knowledge they have regarding beers. And especially Belgian beers. They have close to 600 types of them… in stock! Want to drink a Delirium Tremens from 1996? You can! Enjoy a Eylenbosch Kriek (the brewery doesn’t exist anymore) from draught? You can!

They have a ’standard menu’ which lists all the ‘normal’ beers. But if you want to go special, ask for the cuvee menu. There is a special cabinet in the back of the pub in which they store the bottles by number and age. Just looking in there makes you drool. Well, at least I do.

Are you more into whiskey or bourbon? It’s your place too. They list over 300 I think.

Food wise they sport the usually pub food (burgers, steaks) but they also have mussles :-) Real Belgian mussles prepared in usually around 6 vaiants with fries.

www.akkurat.se (although their online beer list seems empty now) is the place to go.

And no, they are not sponsoring me :-)
