As you might now, I officially live in Sweden (I am a Dutchman though). I do however spend considerable time in Belgium (that’s where my girlfriend lives). When comparing the internet provider situation between those 2 countries, it shows how far behind Belgium is.
In Belgium it’s –standard- to have a bandwidth limitation (on average the providers allow a maximum of 15Gb a month). Such a limitation doesn’t exist in Sweden.
Comparing prices… again a lot of difference:
Take Bredbandsbolaget in Sweden. They offer a 100Mbit connection at home (no kidding!) for 35 euro a month. No download limitation.
Take Telenet in Belgium (one of the biggest in Belgium). They offer a 25Mbit connection at home for 60 euro a month, however, they do have a 35 Gb download limit per month. Do you go beyond the 35Gb limit: buy extra ‘blocks’ of data traffic.
Belgium is, in my opinion when it comes to Internet providers, ages behind Sweden and some other European countries… It’s sad. Really sad.
