Well… I just performed a reboot. It was time. Been cluttering up my weblog for a few years, it was time for a reboot. Or actually… I did full reinstall. Starting from scratch. Trying to figure out a new mode of use. Ah well, I guess you’ve been there.
So, what are the new plans for this new toy I got. Talking about things that come to mind, random thoughts (hence the category). Talking about the occasional frustrations I have with the job I do (coding
) and maybe even about the solutions I manage to find.
Not promising anything though. Just wait and see.
I’m now using the latest version of Wordpress. Been using other blogtools out there, but this one simply does the job the way I like it. Besides that, I do the tech-stuff for a few other weblogs out there so I have some experience with this one. Installed Spam Karma (which unfortunately is a need…) and some other goodies which make my life as a blogger easier.
For those of you who don’t know who I am (which probably is 99.999% of you), a little background:
I’m the travelling consultant. Why’s that? Well, I live in Europe. And I take that literally. I work in Stockholm, Sweden these days, but I also have a place in Belgium, in the city of Ghent. While being of Dutch origins (and my passport is still Dutch), I consider myself more a European than a Belgian, Dutch or Swede. Working in Sweden, living in Belgium means that I see the inner part of an airport quite regularly. This has it’s pro’s and con’s. Pro: I get time to think and sleep (which is a quality I just recently acquired. Sleeping in an airplane that is), con: it always takes so much time to check-in, check-out, etc. The flight between Brussels and Stockholm is relatively short, approximately 2 hours, still, all the stuff around it makes it a trip of around 6 hours.
So during those hours I can find more than enough time to come up with things that bother me
And what a better place to put them than on this blog!
This is not going to be a life-blog. I’m not going to talk about my life. There are enough of those out there already. If I want to talk about my life, I’d rather call a friend. The focus is going to be technology, so don’t let me scare you away! While I’m most of the time involved in IBM related software (no, I do not work for IBM) like Lotus Workplace and Lotus Domino, I do venture out to the other side, being Microsoft software. I’m among others the developer of Doppler, a podcast aggregator which I developed in C#.
